What you'll measure

One short challenge, four cognitive dimensions -- built for people who like timers, streaks, and measurable improvement.

Processing Speed

Race the clock as you connect targets in order -- raw speed matters, and every run is a new chance to sharpen it.

Mental Flexibility

Switch rules on demand when you level up from numbers-only to alternating letters and numbers.

Executive Function

Plan the path, inhibit wrong taps, and keep the sequence straight while pressure builds.

Sustained Attention

Stay locked in from the first node to the last -- focus is the skill you are leveling up.

Two test modes

Warm up with a straight sequence, then flip the rules for the real gear-switching workout.

Part A

TMT-A -- Numbers only

Connect numbered nodes in ascending order as quickly and accurately as you can. It is the pure speed run: minimal rule switching, maximum flow.

Part B

TMT-B -- Numbers & letters

Alternate between letters and numbers (1 → A → 2 → B …). This is where executive control shows up: every step forces a mental context switch under the timer.

How it works

01

Pick your mode

Open the Trail Making screen and choose Part A (numbers only) or Part B (numbers + letters). No signup required.

02

Connect under pressure

Tap nodes in the correct order as fast as you can. The timer is running and mistakes cost time.

03

Review and repeat

See your completion time and error count, then run it again to chip away at your personal best.

Frequently asked

Everything you need to know before taking the test.

Each run is short and self-paced: you finish when you connect every target in order. Most people complete a round in under two minutes, and you can replay as many times as you like.
